Terrain, ability and group
Choose a focus or combine 2 or more for the ultimate all round experience. Freeride builds core riding skills through carving, powder, trees, steeps, jumps and more. Freestyle covers tricks on jumps, boxes, rails, jibs and half pipe in the terrain park. Instructor trains you for your instructor’s qualifications — Level 1, 2, 3 and park instructor.
Freeride camp sessions are run using the whole mountain with an emphasis on rider improvement through groomers, powder, steeps, trees, drops and jumps over natural terrain, whereas the freestyle sessions are run solely in one of the Whistler & Blackcomb terrain parks learning to jump table tops, grab, spin and ride rails. Freestyle sessions are technically more advanced, so Pro Ride recommends being a solid all mountain rider before booking a freestyle camp. On a first trip to Whistler the freeride camp is a good way to see more of the mountain.
As long as you can make turns down intermediate terrain then you are ready for Pro Ride. The majority of Pro Ride’s programs are designed for the intermediate to advanced rider.
With endless acres of steeps, trees, powder and snowboard parks, Whistler is consistently ranked one of the best destination snowboarding resorts in the world, with over 10 metres of snowfall annually.
