Ski trip packing questions
What should I pack for a ski trip?
Pack a waterproof ski jacket and pants, base layers, a fleece or other warm midlayer, ski socks, gloves or mittens, a neck warmer and a hat. You’ll also need a helmet, goggles, and your skis, boots and poles unless you’re renting. Leave room for sunscreen, lip balm, water, snacks, your phone and charger, ID and booking details. Staying overnight? Add toiletries and comfortable clothes and shoes for after skiing.
If you’re unsure about layers, REI’s guide to what to wear skiing and snowboarding explains the basics.
What if I rent my equipment?
Open the Equipment bag and choose “Rented there” to keep track of the gear you’ll pick up. Check your booking to see exactly what’s included, especially boots and a helmet. You can tap an item’s name to add a note with the shop name or collection time. Keep your own clothing, goggles and gloves on the list unless you’ve arranged to rent those too.
Can I use this packing list for snowboarding, ski touring or a hut trip?
Yes. Choose Ski, Snowboard or both, then select what you’ll be doing on the mountain. The list adjusts the suggested gear for your trip. For a hut stay, browse the extra items and check with the hut about bedding, meals and anything you need to bring. For backcountry skiing or riding, go through the list with your guide and confirm the safety equipment and training you’ll need for the route.
Can I add my own items or change quantities?
Of course. Use the search box to find an item or add your own, change the quantity beside each item, and tap an item’s name to rename it, add a note or remove it. Each bag has more items to browse if you need them. Only the items on your checklist count toward your packing progress. Exports include only items you’ve marked as packed.
How do I save, print or share my packing checklist?
Your checklist saves automatically in the browser you’re using, with no account or email needed. Come back on the same device and browser to carry on packing. To share your packed items or take a copy with you, choose “Export list” for Excel, Markdown, a text file or “Copy for Notes”. Choose “Print / Save PDF” for a paper copy or PDF. Saved lists don’t sync between devices, and clearing your browser’s site data removes them, so export your packed list before clearing them.
