Terrain, ability and group
This week is best suited to women who can comfortably ski green and blue runs, and are beginning to explore steeper blue or easier red terrain.
You don’t need to be an advanced skier. More important is a willingness to learn, ask questions and spend time developing your skills.
Topics may include:
• Stance and balance
• Steering the skis
• Edging movements
• Turn shape and speed control
• Mountain tactics and terrain choices
• Understanding ski-snow interaction
December is often Niseko’s calm before the storm. The Christmas and New Year crowds have yet to arrive, the mountain is generally quieter, and consistent snowfall usually provides excellent conditions for developing skills on groomed terrain.

Accommodation, travel and itinerary
Accommodation
You’ll stay at Makoto Chalet in The Country Resort, a beautiful two-bedroom chalet with twin-share rooms for all guests. The spacious open-plan living and dining area gives us plenty of room to relax together after a day on the mountain.
Set amongst the peaceful woodland of The Country Resort, just a short drive from the slopes, Makoto gives us our own cosy home in Niseko for the week.
Breakfast: The chalet kitchen is stocked with fresh eggs, bacon, fruit, Yogurt and fresh Bread — and I’ll add extras based on your preferences.
Lunch: We’ll stop at my favourite mountain cafés each day — so bring a little pocket money and a big appetite!
Dinner: All dinners are included and thoughtfully planned: omakase courses, izakaya nights, and private-chef evenings shared in our cozy chalet.
Itinerary
- 7:00 AM: Morning body-awareness session to wake up muscles and align posture for skiing.
- 8:45 AM: Self-serve breakfast with fresh local ingredients (we’ll send a dietary form so you can add requests).
- 9:30 AM: On-snow coaching focused on movement and confidence; video feedback over coffee mid-morning.
- 12:30 PM: Lunch at one of Niseko’s local restaurants.
- 1:30 PM: Reinforce the morning’s focus and explore new runs.
- 3:30 PM: Relax in a natural onsen hot spring or stop for an après-ski treat.
- 6:30 PM: Dinner: rotating between izakaya dining, omakase course, or a private chef evening in the chalet.

Good To Know
Women on Edge weeks are intentionally kept small, with a target of four women per instructor.
Smaller groups allow more individual feedback, greater flexibility and more opportunities to adapt each day to the needs of the group and the conditions on the mountain.
Small group sizes allow plenty of individual feedback, and groups will be matched to ensure everyone is skiing with others of a similar ability level.
Niseko’s onsens are world-class, especially in the Annupuri area just 10–15 minutes from our chalet. I’ll guide you through Japanese onsen etiquette and introduce you to my favourite local hot springs.
Spots are limited.
