This area is known as the snowiest region in Kazakhstan, where snow depths can reach up to 3.5 meters during the winter. The cold continental climate produces the kind of snow every powder skier dreams of—light, dry, and perfectly suited for deep turns.

From perfectly spaced tree runs to wide open alpine bowls and playful pillow zones, the Altai offers terrain that keeps every run exciting and every day different. The cat-skiing terrain covers over 100 square kilometers of wild mountain landscape. Each run offers an impressive vertical drop ranging from 450 to 1000 meters.

Minimum requirements for this course: Experienced off piste skiers. Skiers who have a high level of fitness to ski all day off piste with a break for lunch. Skiers confident to ski for a week in deep snow (and who can skin to some routes using touring equipment if needed). The ability to get up unaided after a fall, in deep snow, is essential.

Accommodation

Our base will be the BearLog Hotel. Spacious, comfortable rooms, a restaurant serving western and local cuisine, and a wellness centre with saunas, a traditional Russian banya, and a cosy relaxation area make it the perfect place to relax and recharge after a full day in the mountains.

Getting There

Air Astana from Heathrow. NOTE: Flights depart from the UK on Saturday 27 February 2027 and land in Kazakhstan the following day. For the return flights depart from Kazakhstan on Sunday 7 March 2027 and land in London on Monday 8 March.

Transfers will meet these flights: 28 February meeting flight number KC301 landing at 1305 in UKK; 7 March departing flight number KC302 at 1405 from UKK. Taxis and airport transfers are included in the price.

Itinerary

  • Travel 27 February 2027: Depart from London to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan.
  • Day 1, 28 February 2027: Arrive Ust-Kamenogorsk at 1305 and transfer to Ridder.
  • Day 2 - 7, 1 – 6 March 2027: 6 days off piste skiing with snowcats.
  • Day 8, 7 March 2027: Depart our accommodation early and transfer to Ust-Kamenogorsk airport. Fly back to London departing at 1405.
