Who is this trip for?
  • The Silvretta Mini Tour is ideal for confident off-piste skiers who are ready to take their first steps into ski touring and experience a multi-day hut-to-hut adventure. Combining a Ski Touring Skills Workshop with three rewarding days in the mountains, it offers the perfect balance of learning, exploration and unforgettable alpine scenery.
Fitness
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required. You should be comfortable ascending approximately 700-900 vertical metres per day while carrying a lightweight day pack (we recommend a maximum pack weight of around 10-12 kg). Our guides set a steady, enjoyable pace, allowing plenty of time to develop your touring technique while taking in the spectacular scenery. Before your trip, we recommend preparing with activities such as hiking, cycling, ski touring or other aerobic exercise.
  • Top Tip: Ensure your ski touring boots are well broken in before the trip. New or rental boots are one of the most common causes of blisters on multi-day tours.
Ski Ability
  • This trip is suitable for Level 2-3 skiers with some off-piste experience. Previous ski touring experience is helpful but not essential.
  • The adventure begins with a dedicated Ski Touring Skills Workshop in St Anton, where you’ll learn efficient skinning techniques, kick turns, transitions, equipment use and the fundamentals of safe travel in the winter mountains before heading into the Silvretta.Throughout the trip, your guide will continue to coach your ski touring technique, mountain awareness and avalanche decision-making, helping you build confidence both on the ascent and the descent.
  • If you’re unsure whether this trip is right for you, please get in touch with the Piste to Powder team. We’ll be happy to discuss your skiing experience and recommend the most suitable adventure.

Accommodation in St Anton is not included, giving you the flexibility to choose the option that best suits your budget and preferences.

Our friendly Piste to Powder Host Team will be delighted to recommend and arrange accommodation before and after your adventure, whether you’re looking for a cosy guesthouse in Pettneu, a hotel in St Anton or something in between.

One of the highlights of the Silvretta Ski Touring Week is staying in traditional alpine mountain huts. Perched high in the spectacular glacier valleys of the Silvretta Alps at around 2,300 metres, each hut offers a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and a wonderful atmosphere after a rewarding day in the mountains.

All of the mountain huts are fully serviced and provide comfortable dormitory-style accommodation with heated dining rooms and washroom facilities. Most huts have hot showers (usually coin-operated), and hut slippers are generally provided, with the exception of Jamtalhütte.

Evenings are one of the most memorable parts of the trip. After a hearty dinner, guests often relax over a drink, share stories from the day’s adventure or enjoy a game of cards before an early night, ready for the next day’s tour.

Mountain hut hospitality is excellent. Half-board accommodation includes a generous breakfast and a wholesome three-course evening meal, often including soup and dessert.

Breakfasts are typically buffet-style with fresh bread, cheeses, cold meats, muesli, tea and coffee.

Packed lunches can be purchased each morning for a small additional charge. If you bring a thermos flask, the huts are usually happy to fill it with hot tea for the day’s tour.

One of the advantages of hut-to-hut touring in the Silvretta is that you only need to carry a lightweight day pack. Along with your daily essentials, you’ll need a small change of clothes for the evening. The huts are warm and heated, so there is no need for heavy extra clothing.

Please remember to bring:

A silk or lightweight sleeping bag liner (essential, as blankets and pillows are provided but sleeping bag liners are required).

A lightweight travel towel if you prefer not to hire one at the huts.

A thermos flask for hot drinks during the day.

Our friendly Piste to Powder Host Team will be delighted to recommend and arrange accommodation before and after your tour, helping you find the option that best suits your budget and travel plans.

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all participants and must include winter sports and off-piste ski touring. We also require all guests to have mountain rescue cover. We recommend joining the Austrian Alpine Club (Österreichischer Alpenverein), which provides excellent worldwide mountain rescue insurance, including helicopter evacuation, for a modest annual membership fee. Please ensure your insurance covers medical expenses, cancellation, personal liability and repatriation. It is your responsibility to check that your policy provides appropriate cover for your planned activities.

Our group departures are limited to a maximum of 7 guests per IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide, ensuring a safe, personalised and enjoyable experience.

Private departures are available throughout the ski touring season. Additional dates are available on request.
