Big snow, bold terrain—Gunma is Japan’s backcountry gateway.

Operated byExtremely CanadianCamp; Guide Service; Travel Company

This 7-night ski adventure takes you deep into the heart of Gunma, Japan, where the mountains receive mind-blowing snowfall and few international skiers venture. Just a few hours from Tokyo, this off-the-beaten-path destination blends steep terrain, deep powder, and the quiet charm of a traditional mountain town.

Suits Intermediate to Expert riders

The trip is centered around lift-accessed backcountry skiing: we use ropeways and chairlifts to gain elevation quickly, then drop into bowls, glades, and chutes where fresh lines often linger days after the last storm. Minimal boot-packing and traversing means more time shredding and less time climbing. With snow measured in meters and a mix of in-bounds and sidecountry terrain that rivals anywhere in Japan, you can expect consistent face shots, big-mountain lines, and minimal crowds.

Extremely Canadian is geared towards adventurous advanced-intermediate to expert skiers. If you can ski an un-groomed "Black Diamond" run at your home hill, then you belong with us! Skiers are placed in small groups of similar ability, combined with a serious amount of vertical, guaranteed improvement, tired legs, make for an unforgettable ski experience.
