Terrain, ability and group
You must be a self reliant, experienced, advanced to expert backcountry skier or splitboarder who is comfortable riding variable backcountry conditions, deep powder, and steep slopes. This trip is physically demanding - you should have a high level of fitness with the ability to ascend and descend an average of 3,000-6,000 vertical feet per day over multiple days. Avalanche training and prior glacier travel experience are beneficial but not required.
You'll be part of the team's decision-making process and will learn how to assess weather and snow conditions, choose appropriate routes and descents, communicate efficiently with your group, and identify hazards in a dynamic, remote glacial environment.
Terrain is in the Chugach Mountains, accessed from a remote glacier base camp reached by bush plane or helicopter.

Accommodation, travel and itinerary
Accommodation
Camp lodging is provided at the glacier base camp: 3-person tents and a large communal tent, with fresh water at camp and bowls and cutlery provided. Hotel accommodations in Alaska (before/after the glacier portion) are not included - guests are responsible for their own lodging in Valdez.
Getting There
The trip is based out of Valdez, Alaska (Airport Rd, Valdez, AK 99686). Airport pickup in Valdez and shuttle to the bush plane is included. From the glacier camp, flights are by bush plane or helicopter. After returning from glacier camp, guests fly or drive to Anchorage. Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Valdez, and for any lodging needed in Valdez before or after the glacier portion of the trip.
Itinerary
ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS: Arrival details will be provided upon reservation.
ITINERARY (flexible, subject to change based on weather and logistics):
Saturday: arrival day, orientation, gear organization
Sunday: fly out to the glacier weather permitting, set up camp and go touring
Monday to Friday: tour and ride each day
Friday: break down camp and fly back to Valdez
If weather prevents flying out to glacier camp, the group plans to tour locally around Valdez/Thompson Pass, weather conditions permitting; guests are responsible for their own lodging in Valdez in that case.
DAILY FLOW AT GLACIER CAMP: Wake each morning on the glacier and enjoy a hot breakfast with coffee or tea, followed by a group meeting to discuss weather, snow conditions, and the day's objectives. Tour the chosen zone for the day with guides. After a full day in the mountains, tour back to camp for apres with glacier ice cocktails or the beverage of choice, followed by dinner prepared by the Pulseline chef. As darkness falls, watch for the Northern Lights or the stars overhead.
DEPARTURE INSTRUCTIONS: After returning from glacier camp, fly or drive to Anchorage. Guests staying additional nights in Valdez are responsible for their own lodging.

Good To Know
Packing list highlights: alpine touring skis or splitboard and boots, ski/splitboard crampons, climbing skins, poles, avalanche safety/rescue gear (airbag pack, transceiver, shovel, probe), glacier travel harness and 2 locking carabiners, crampons, ice axe, sleeping bag rated to 0 degrees F or below, foam and inflatable sleeping pads, warm layers and a Gore-Tex jacket/pants, warm waterproof snow boots for camp, goggles/sunglasses, sunscreen, 2 reusable water bottles (one a thermos), camping mug, own high-calorie food/snacks for touring lunches, FRS radio (BCA Link, Rocky Talkie, or Motorola), headlamp, and hygiene kit.
Booking: final booking deadline is 90 days prior to the adventure. Reservations before that deadline require a 50% deposit; after the deadline, full payment is required. Cancellation policy is strict - no refunds or credits for any reason, including illness, injury, travel complications, or inadequate ability. Travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended, including evacuation coverage, since guests are billed for helicopter/ambulance costs if evacuated.
