Is this the right trip for me?
  • The beauty of Iceland is that there is friendly and enjoyable terrain for a lot of different ability and comfort levels.
  • We recommend Iceland as your introductory trip to international skiing with NEM.
  • With that said, all participants should be proficient resort riders and we comfortable on all trails, groomed and un-groomed, in the resort.
  • You should also have some prior uphill experience and be familiar with your touring gear.
  • Avalanche education is not required but recommended and participants should be familiar with their avalanche transceiver.
  • You should be able to climb 3000 feet in a day at a pace of approximately 1000ft/hour or 1mph.

*Itinerary is subject to change based on weather and snow conditions. We will maximize the experience by adjusting the itinerary to match the conditions.

  1. Day 1: The majority of the flights to Reykjavik are red eye flights arriving in Iceland around 5AM the next day. Please plan to arrive in Iceland very early on the first day of your itinerary (March 20 and April 3 respectively) in order to make the 5 hour drive to Akureyri. It is also possible to fly directly into Akureyri.
  2. Days 2–7: For 6 days we will be ski touring throughout the Troll Peninsula. There are many different valleys that offer a wide range of ski conditions and slope angles. There is something for everyone here! An emphasis will be put on fitting in big days and as much skiing as possible. In addition to world-class skiing and riding, we will incorporate the Icelandic culture as much as possible, which includes hot springs! If you wish to take a rest day or two, you are free to do so. There is much to explore in this beautiful country!
  3. Day 8: After breakfast, we will begin the drive back to the capital city of Reykjavik arriving in the city in the early afternoon. Alternatively, you can take a mid-morning flight directly out of Akureyri. Evening international flights (after 3PM) can be booked if you are on a time crunch and they are available. Most flights depart to the US in the early afternoon/evening so we highly recommend departing the following day. Reykjavik is a wonderful city full of Icelandic culture.
